Cookie Policy

What cookies are

Cookies are tiny text files that a website saves on your device. They let the site remember things between visits, like which scenes you've already answered, or whether you've accepted cookies. Some are required for the site to work; others help us understand how people use it.

How we use them

We use cookies in two categories: strictly necessary and analytics. We do not use advertising cookies, social-media trackers, or any cross-site tracking beyond what Microsoft sets via Clarity (which you can refuse).

Strictly necessary

These cookies are always on. The site can't function without them, so we don't ask for consent (we're allowed not to under PECR §6).

CookieWho sets itWhat it doesHow long it lives
sdc_visitorusA one-way hash that prevents you from submitting the same scene poll twice. HTTP-only, so the site's JavaScript can't read it.1 year
sdc_answeredusRemembers which scenes you've already answered so we don't show them to you again.1 year
sdc_consentusStores your cookie-consent choices. The thing that makes consent work.12 months

Analytics (only with your consent)

These cookies are set by Microsoft Clarity, an analytics tool that lets us see how people use the site: heatmaps of where you click, session recordings of where you scroll, that kind of thing. None of them is set unless you accept analytics cookies in the banner.

CookieWho sets itWhat it doesHow long it lives
_clckus (via Clarity)Identifies you across visits to our site.1 year
_clskus (via Clarity)Groups your page views in one visit into a single recording.1 day
CLIDClarity (Microsoft)Notes the first time Clarity has ever seen you on any site that uses it.1 year
ANONCHKMicrosoftUsed by Microsoft to flag whether they've linked their tracking ID to an advertising ID. We don't run Microsoft Ads, so this is always 0.10 minutes
MRMicrosoftFlag for whether to refresh the next cookie.7 days
MUIDMicrosoftA browser ID Microsoft uses across all sites that run Clarity, Bing, and several other Microsoft services.1 year
SMMicrosoftSyncs MUID across Microsoft domains.until you close your browser

If you don't want Microsoft setting these, choose Reject all in the cookie banner, or toggle Analytics off via Cookie preferences in the footer. We're not offended.

Changing your mind

You can change your cookie choices any time by clicking Cookie preferences in the footer. You can also clear cookies from your browser settings; the next time you visit, we'll ask again.

If you reject analytics, the site continues to work normally. We just won't know where you clicked.

Updates to this policy

When we add or remove a cookie, this page changes. The Last reviewed date at the top reflects the most recent edit. Material changes (new cookie categories, new third parties) are emailed to newsletter subscribers and surface on the cookie banner with the next consent prompt.
